How do I know what in-home care services I’ll need?

We offer a complimentary consultation so you can decide on the most practical plan for your loved one.

How do I arrange for home health care services?

Start by calling our friendly staff at 913-645-1141. We will listen carefully to your requirements, explain our services, and outline the next steps. Depending on the depth of service required, this may include a free-of-charge, brief initial assessment of the individual to be cared for, in order to recommend an appropriate level of care.

Can you really receive the care you need at home?

Absolutely. In fact, the level of care is usually higher than that of institutional long-term care solutions. Care provided to an individual on a one-on-one basis is by its very nature far more encompassing, responding not only to specific physical needs, but also providing much needed companionship.

When should home health care be considered?

The time to consider home health care is when assistance is needed with some or all of the normal activities of day-to-day living. This may include such things as regular hygiene, housekeeping, cooking, shopping or even walking safely without assistance. The inability to cope with these activities may be due to a recent surgery or illness.

Home health care may also be necessary if family is unable to manage a loved one’s increased memory loss that might be putting them at risk due to forgetting or improperly taking medications, leaving water running or stove burners on.

What insurance do you accept?

Long-term care, Veterans’ Benefits and many other commercial insurances. We will verify insurance coverage for you.

How can I pay for in-home care?

In addition to private pay, we work with various long-term care insurance providers who can cover most of the cost. If you are unsure of what your insurance policy covers, please contact us and our office will be happy to help you.

How often am I billed?

The billing cycle is every two weeks. You may receive your first bill sooner than two weeks depending on when the initial services are provided in the billing cycle.

What are the minimum hours required per shift for companion care or home health care?

Our minimum is three hours per shift.

How is your staff trained?

Our staff is carefully screened prior to hire with testing and skill level assessments, as well as reference and criminal background checks. Staff members are oriented and in-serviced regularly. All professional staff must hold current licensure and meet state-imposed continuing education unit requirements.

How do you select your caregivers?

Heart of America Home Health Care owner, Janelle Hendin, is personally involved in every hiring decision. With our many years of experience interviewing, hiring, and managing employees, you can be confident that our caregivers are screened and selected with scrutiny.

We conduct a national, comprehensive background check and follow up on all references to ensure we are hiring the highest caliber of employees. Since our employees are working independently and on-site, it is very important for us to be thorough in our evaluation and assessment of each candidate.
